Customer records
Customer records are reusable business contacts for orders. Keeping customer information separate from a single order avoids repeated entry and makes it easier to see the relationship history over time.
Create a customer when the same person, company, department, or production account may come back again. The customer record should hold the details that are true beyond a single job: billing identity, contact information, status, and any notes that help the team work with that customer consistently.
In practice, customers store billing/shipping addresses, contact details, and status. Customer pages include customer-specific order history. Search, sort, and right-click actions are available on customer lists.
Venue records
Venues hold reusable location details for where the rental order is being used. They can be selected on orders so delivery, pickup, and event-location details stay consistent from job to job.
Use venues when location details matter operationally. A customer may rent from you many times, but the venue tells the driver, warehouse, or production team where the job is actually happening. Keeping venue records separate also helps avoid retyping addresses and reduces mistakes when the same location appears on multiple orders.
In practice, venues provide reusable destination/location data for orders. Venue details reduce repeated data entry during order creation. Venues can be managed independently from customers.
